🚒SUPPORT FIREFIGHTER TYLER VILIMEK 🚨
Firefighter/EMT Tyler Vilimek of St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, who was seriously injured in the line of duty while responding to a working structure fire on October 23, 2025.
While establishing a water supply for his crew, several hundred pounds of iron and steel unexpectedly failed. The hydrant violently launched nearly six feet into the air and struck Tyler in the head. In a split second — through no fault of his own — everything changed.
Tyler sustained a traumatic brain injury, cervical spine injury, and jaw damage. He spent six days hospitalized and has since been removed from duty indefinitely. His recovery is long, complex, and uncertain — including when or if he will be able to return to the fire service he loves.
Firefighting is not just Tyler’s career — it is his legacy. He comes from a five-generation firefighting family serving Pinellas County, FL and Chicago, IL. Service runs in his blood. Tyler is the teammate who runs toward danger, the calm voice in chaos, and the firefighter others trust when seconds matter.
Today, Tyler and his wife Courtney — newly married and building their life together — are facing overwhelming challenges. With Tyler on reduced income and Courtney stepping away from her nursing career unpaid to care for him, the financial strain has become heavy and immediate. Tyler now attends multiple therapy sessions five days a week, specialty appointments hours from home, and continues intensive rehabilitation while navigating the unpredictable symptoms of traumatic brain injury. Courtney drives him to every appointment, advocates for his care, and stands beside him through every step of recovery. They have also faced unexpected vehicle repair costs while traveling for medical care and unresolved construction and safety issues in their home that have become difficult to manage during this recovery period.
Every donation — no matter the size — makes a real difference!
Every share helps extend the reach.
Every prayer reminds them they are not alone.
Tyler has dedicated his life to protecting others. Now it’s our turn to protect him and his family.
