The biggest international star of the 1970s, John Denver had the unique ability to put into words and music the celebration of the simple pleasures of life, the beauty of nature, and bring the audience along with him for the ride. 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the release of his first album to hit #1 on the Billboard charts, “Back Home Again,” one of his most iconic albums.
We are excited to announce that we will be returning to Aspen, Colorado during the John Denver Celebration week! Tickets for our concert, on October 5, 2024, will be going on sale tomorrow, May 17, 2024 at 12:00 noon Mountain Daylight Time. This year the concert will feature songs from the John Denver's "Back Home Again" album and his other famous hits!
Due to the Wheeler Opera House will be having stage renovations this year during October, the concert will be held at the Aspen District Theatre on the Aspen School District's campus. However, tickets will still be purchased through the Wheeler Opera House Box Office at aspenshowtix.com or by calling 970-920-5770 or toll free at 866-449-0464.

Directions for the Aspen District Theatre:
I know we will really miss being at the Wheeler Opera House this year due to renovations, but everyone at the Aspen District Theatre has been so nice and are looking forward to having everyone there! Here is location and travel information on attending the concert at the Aspen District Theatre this year.
The theater is located on the Aspen School District Campus, and it has been used for various productions (i.e. the Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet Company). The Aspen School District is located off the Maroon Creek Road. So, it is off the road that you take to go to the Maroon Bells. It sits across from the Aspen Rec Center and on 235 High School Drive (turning left from Maroon Creek Rd to enter campus) It is not far from the round-a-bout. From Snowmass Village, it is about 14-16 miles. So depending on traffic, it takes around 30-40 minutes. From Aspen, it is around 3 miles or 7-10 minutes.
3 schools sit on the campus: the high school, middle school and elementary school. The entrance to the Aspen District Theatre is through the elementary school into the theater.
There is some parking there and also a location to drop off anyone that is handicapped before parking. RFTA does have a bus that runs by there, which is the Castle/Maroon Creek bus and is free.
