Back by Popular Demand – A Tribute to Hastings Street featuring Bob White’s Hastings Street Band
Detroit, MI — October 28, 2025 — The Preservation of Jazz Monday Night Music Series is proud to present a very special evening Back by Popular Demand — A Tribute to Hastings Street, featuring the legendary Bob White’s Hastings Street Band. The evening will be hosted by Detroit’s own comedian Mike Bonner, with an opening performance by the incomparable Sky Covington.
This exclusive tribute takes place on Monday, October 28, 2025 at Aretha’s Jazz Café (350 Madison, Detroit, MI). Doors open at 6:00 PM with showtime at 7:30 PM. Tickets are just $25, offering the community a chance to relive and celebrate the vibrant history of Detroit jazz.

About Hastings Street
In the heart of Detroit’s Black Bottom and Paradise Valley, Hastings Street was once the lifeblood of jazz, blues, and Black culture in the city. From the 1930s through the 1950s, Hastings Street thrived with nightclubs, after-hours spots, and performance venues where legends like John Lee Hooker, Big Maceo, and countless jazz greats got their start. It was more than a street — it was a cultural epicenter where music, community, and resilience converged, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

About Bob White and the Hastings Street Band
Bob White, a Detroit jazz luminary, has dedicated his career to preserving the spirit of Hastings Street through his artistry and storytelling. With his Hastings Street Band, White recreates the soulful, swinging sound that defined an era of Detroit’s rich cultural history. The group has become known for reviving the energy of jazz’s golden age while keeping its roots alive for today’s audiences.
