Believe it or not, they’re coming! It’ll be a weekend of workshops and social dancing, fully immersed in Bachata. Dakhóta Romero and Edwin Ferreras are globally sought-after teachers and performers that have played a pivotal role in popularizing Bachata worldwide. More specifically, they’ve introduced many around the world to the beautiful style of Bachata’s birthplace: the Dominican Republic. Everything converges in them: flavour, rhythm, beauty, authenticity and joy, all of which they’ll pass onto you during the weekend of May 25th and 26th in Vancouver.The stunning duo will also perform that weekend at FIESTA CUBANICANA, a unique social dance party fully inspired in the contagious rhythms of two sister nations: Cuba and the Dominican Republic. That evening you’ll dance to Bachata, Timba, Salsa, Merengue, Dembow, Son and more.
SATURDAY WORKSHOPS - MAY 25th
***BACHATA MUSICALITY*** (no partner required)
Description: in order to fully enjoy and properly interpret Bachata dancing, we must first understand the rhythm. That's why our immersive weekend starts with a musicality w/ live Instruments workshop (Footwork with Bongo & Güira). This workshop is pattern based and offers ideas for some of the most popular and versatile footwork and syncopated steps found in bachata culture, as well as fun variations. Includes a guided practice on interpretation of the three rhythms found in Bachata (derecho, majao, mambo). Towards the end the students also learn to breakout of the pattern and creat their own ideas in a fun cypher.

***MYTH BUSTING MERENGUE*** (partner recommended, but not required)
Description: a revolutionary new workshop that shatters common misconceptions and dives into the authentic world of Merengue! In this interactive and informative class we explore origins, styles, tempo, dance and music breakdowns, and much more. Perfect for those looking to debunk myths and deepen their understanding of this dynamic dance while burning calories and gaining knowledge. This experience will transform your relationship with Merengue!

SUNDAY WORKSHOPS - MAY 26th
***BACHATA DE BARRIO*** (partner recommended, but not required)
Description: bachata de barrio is the hottest thing right now. Bachateros from around the world are feeling drawn to the lively and playful Bachata de Barrio (Bachata from the Hood). This exciting workshop will be a dance tour through some of the most underground (Bajo Mundo) dance settings and mediums in the Dominican Republic. Not only the regional aspects but how the location influences the dance. This class starts with a Dembow Warm-up.

***BACHATA WOMEN’S STYLE*** (No partner required)
Description: Dominican Bachata is empowering. It sets you free and it helps you connect with your inner self through beautiful body movement. Dakhóta will share the secrets to unlock the elegance of women’s style through playful combinations of footwork, hip movements, and gestural communication. Everything you’ll learn from her will be not only useful for your individual expression, but also applicable to a partner-dancing context. Seize this opportunity to dance from one of the best!
