The versatility of ‘Norma’ the Town Hall organ will be explored in a concert by leading Christchurch musician Jeremy Woodside on Sunday 2 March. Entitled ‘Bach to Blues’ the programme ranges from one of Bach’s major Preludes and Fugues to a set of pieces in jazz style based on traditional spirituals, by contemporary composer Iain Farrington.
Entry is by donation at the door.
Jeremy Woodside grew up in Christchurch and was a chorister and later Assistant Organist at Christchurch Cathedral. He later studied in Sydney and held cathedral organ scholarships and a music teaching post in the UK. He is now resident in Christchurch where he regularly performs with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, and as a soloist, choir accompanist, and orchestral player. He is an active composer with various published works. He is the Director of Music at Knox Church in Christchurch, and a repetiteur for Toi Toi Opera and Showbiz Christchurch.
