We are excited to be working with The David Gordon Quartet to present a programme featuring motets by J.S. and J.C. Bach sung by the choir, interspersed with jazz improvisations reflecting on the themes of the motets.
The music of both Bachs has a strong affinity with jazz conventions, particularly in how the melodic lines interact with one another. This promises to be an intriguing and enjoyable evening of music.
The David Gordon Quartet features David Gordon on Piano, James Ayre on Drums, Dave Ayre on Bass, and Dom Franks on Saxophone. The Oriel Singers is directed by Ben Sawyer.
