Welcome to the Baby Week Calderdale - Practitioner & Volunteer Event!
Join us at Orange Box Young People's Centre for a morning filled with learning, networking and fun. This in-person event will be filled with guest speakers who will inspire, motivate and give you some ideas and practical take home tips to support you when working with babies, young children and their families.
This event is part of Calderdale’s 2024 Baby Week and this year the focus will be the Best Start – Connections. Connections for emotional health and wellbeing, connections for early language development and connections for families. Showcasing activities and support available for expectant families and families with babies and toddlers. It forms part of the Calderdale Family Hubs offer.
This session is for anyone working with or supporting Calderdale babies, young children and their families.
Our Guest Speakers are:
· Amelia Brunt- Extensive experience working in education specialising in inclusion, SEN and with particular focus on the educational experiences of Children Looked After. She will share the latest research on the Baby Brain Connections and what we can all do to promote the emotional health and wellbeing of babies, young children and their families.
· Angela Ladocha - Growing Little Minds team, supporting parent infant relationships, will explain how the Family Hubs offer can support you in connecting families together, improve and sustain positive relationships between care givers and enable babies and young children to develop their emotional security.
· Janet Smethhurst - Calderdale Health Visiting team will explain how babies are born movers from the moment of conception. They will outline how babies and young children’s developmental movements underpin all aspects of their learning and wellbeing. They will provide top tips for ensuring babies and young children get their recommended daily opportunities to learn and practice their physical skills.
· Carly Hartshorn –Speech and Language Therapist & Children’s Therapies Service Manager at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. She will talk about the Connections that are vital for early language and communication development. She will give ideas and information on how we can best support families to help their babies and young children to be super communicators from birth.
