Hi everyone,My name is Selina Pena, proud mother of Maxemiliano Gonzalez. Today, I’m reaching out to our entire Rio Grande Valley family and friends with a heartfelt request.
In honor of Pediatric Stroke Awareness Week, we will be hosting the Blessed to the Max 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
This event is more than a run. It’s more than a walk.
It’s for our children — our pediatric heroes — who face battles most adults couldn’t imagine. It’s for awareness, for education, for resources, and for advocacy right here in our community.
When Max suffered a stroke at just 10 years old, our world changed overnight. Pediatric stroke is real. It is often overlooked. And many families feel alone navigating recovery, therapy, and support.
This 5K is about changing that.
It’s about coming together as one community — walking in faith, choosing hope over fear, and making sure no family fights this battle alone. Every step taken helps shine a light on pediatric stroke and helps us continue building support systems for families who need it most.
