CONFIRMED! CONFIRMED! THIS WILL BE EPIC AND WILL LIKELY NOT BE REPEATED!
POWDERWORKERS CELEBRATE THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF OILS ON THE WATER, GOAT ISLAND
WHEN:
Saturday 18th January 2025, 4 - 9pm (5-hour cruise including stopover on Goat Island)
WHERE:
Pick up will still be Eastern Pontoon, Circular Quay as per previous cruises
WHAT'S HAPPENING:
In partnership with our friends at TRIBAL WARRIOR, we will make this cruise one not to be missed. We will have a full five-hour cruise on Sydney Harbour that will include the full Tribal Warrior cultural cruise on their new vessel, the converted Lady Northcott. We'll learn the traditional culture, history, and stories of one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. Hear stories of the Gadigal, Guringai, Wangal, Gammeraigal and Wallumedegal people of Sydney Harbour and learn the Aboriginal names and meanings of significant Sydney landmarks, before stepping ashore on Me-Mel (Goat Island), where we will check out the venue of one of the greatest Midnight Oil gigs from January 13th 1985 that we all know and love so well. The education will continue for us with the Tribal Warrior educators on this significant island in Indigenous culture.
NOTE: This is an event exclusively for Powderworkers and their family and friends. This is not available to the general public.
COST:
$150 AUD per head for Adults and $120 per head for children under 16 years.
WHEN:
You can pay anytime from now if you wish but we must close off bookings on November 30th and confirm final numbers. A booking is only confirmed with full payment.
HOW DO I PAY:
Submit payment via PayPal to paypal.me/BrettBeattie and include you name and your FB Powderworkers page name, e.g. your name might be Peter, might be Paul but if your FB profile is Bosco, then include both please?
PLEASE CHOOSE THE PAYPAL OPTION WITHOUT TRANSFER FEES PLEASE!
WHAT DO I GET:
Fully catered cruise with dinner and a cash bar. If we get enough numbers we will likely have a bar float for at least part of the cruise. There will be vegan/vegetarian options available.
ANYTHING ELSE:
We are working on special guests to either be on the cruise with us or pop over to the island for a chat. Maybe some friends will play a tune or two and of course this is a chance to catch up with Powderworker mates.
DRINKS:
Cash bar with beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks.
WHY TRIBAL WARRIOR:
Mari Nawi (Big Canoe) was the vessel that Midnight Oil held their press conference on to announce the reformation of the band and the 2017 Great Circle tour. The Mari Nawi and the recently converted Lady Northcott are owned and operated by Tribal Warrior.
This year we will be on the beautiful Lady Northcott who, like Triple J is about to turn 50!
WHO ARE TRIBAL WARRIOR:
Tribal Warrior has been a central part of the Redfern community for over two decades. Throughout this time of rebuild and change, their vision has been unwavering – they strive to empower their community through connection to culture and family.
So come on, let's do this! There must be hundreds of Powderworkers out there who will not want to miss out on this cruise.
