About this Event

Please note: This event is initiated and funded by B. Braun Medical Ltd. B. Braun products will be promoted.
This event is for UK healthcare professionals (HCPs) only.

Our Nutrition Study Day brings together clinicians, dietitians, pharmacists, nurses, and nutrition specialists from across the country for a collaborative, forward-thinking exploration of medical nutrition practice. Designed to support knowledge sharing and cross regional collaboration, this event provides a platform for likeminded professionals to connect, learn, and discuss the latest developments within parenteral nutrition. As a longstanding partner in medical nutrition, B. Braun is committed to sharing expertise and supporting hospitals in delivering nutritional care. This study day reflects that commitment through high-quality educational content and practical insights

FACULTY MEMBERS

Gabis Chana | Lead Pharmacist | Birmingham Women's and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust
Gabi worked as a specialist paediatric pharmacist at Birmingham Children’s Hospital since 2015, and a specialist parenteral nutrition (PN) pharmacist since 2018. Graduating from Aston University, she was always driven to be a paediatric clinical pharmacist. Now working as part of an expert multi-disciplinary team, she has helped to develop, expand and lead the Ph*rm*cy PN service, which also serves a large cohort of home PN patients. As an independent prescriber, she works closely with gastroenterology, nutritional care and dietetic teams, and is dedicated to sharing expertise and promoting Ph*rm*cy services.

Simon Gabe | Consultant in Gastroenterology & Intestinal Rehabilitation | St Mark's Hospital, London

Dr Gabe is a consultant in gastroenterology & intestinal rehabilitation at St Mark's Hospital and chair of the NHS National Reference Centre for Severe Intestinal Failure at St Mark’s. He is a past President of BAPEN and he co-founded the National Adult Small Intestinal Transplant (NASIT) Forum in the UK. He currently co-chairs a HPN Clinical Advice and Management Group on home parenteral nutrition for NHS England.

Emily Shepherd | Nutrition Support Team Surgical Dietitian | Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Emily completed the MSc Dietetics and Leadership Degree Apprenticeship with Coventry University in 2024. She is now a specialist dietitian working in peritoneal malignancy and surgery, providing expert nutritional care for patients throughout complex treatment pathways.

Melanie Toon | Senior Specialist Dietitian | University Hospital of Leicester NHS Trust
Melanie has extensive experience in the management of parenteral nutrition (PN) and intestinal failure, becoming a supplementary non-medical prescriber in 2018. She combines her clinical role within Leicester’s Intestinal Failure Team with research and has recently completed her PhD evaluating parenteral requirements, intakes and influences on home PN prescribing in adults with chronic intestinal failure. Locally she has led on projects to increase inpatient use of multi-chamber PN across the trust. Previously had a lead role in a feasibility study investigating home jejunostomy feeding after oesophago-gastric cancer surgery.
