Award Winners Book Club: Pär Lagerkvist

The motive force behind our endeavor at Clio’s is fostering conversation about books and ideas. Our community programming continues with the monthly "Award Winners" book club. This month the club will read by Nobel Laureate Pär Lagerkvist.

This is a story about the one who got away. Barabbas is the man spared by Pilate, and that lucky break leads him into an existential crisis. Who is this man who took is place? What does it mean if he simply can't accept him as a savior, holy or otherwise? Lagerkvist's novel provides its readers with a vivid portrait of this all-too-human anti-Christ.
