Chronos Vocal Ensemble presents “awakening” - a concert for the new year - on Sunday January 19 2025 at 7:30 in All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral. A collaborative performance with Edmonton’s own contemporary pianist extraordinaire Roger Admiral, the program is the second in a concert season exploring time - the past, present, and future. Awakening presents works that anchor the present in the cycle of time.
This concert features two major works by two of choral music’s preeminent contemporary composers - The Passing of the Year by English composer Jonathan Dove, and Mid-Winter Songs by American Morten Lauridsen - that together plant us in the present moment, the old year behind and yearning for the year to come: a concert full of resonances between the seasons of the year and the seasons of life.
