✨ Awakened Voices Narratives is coming to Elmira! The Centre Wellington Black Committee is honoured to bring Awakened Voices Narratives to Gale Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 30, 2026 — performing on the historic grounds of the former Queen’s Bush Settlement, one of the most significant early Black communities in Ontario.
This special presentation lifts the stories of remarkable ancestors, including Ida and John Little, successful Black farmers who helped shape the region; Rev. Mabel Adeline (Addie) Aylestock, the first Black woman ordained in Canada; Sophia Pooley, one of the earliest documented freedom seekers in Upper Canada; and many other influential Black pioneers whose voices continue to guide and inspire us.
Join us for an afternoon of storytelling, music, and remembrance as we honour the legacy, resilience, and faith of the Queen’s Bush community.
