Avy's Sunshine Kite Festival (3rd Annual)
About this Event
The 3rd Annual Avy’s Sunshine Kite Festival is a free community event where people come together to decorate and fly kites in honor of loved ones who have died, while also making space for joy, connection, art, play, and being together.
Throughout the day, hundreds of kites fill the sky alongside kids activities, art installations, music, community partners, food, remembrance spaces, and opportunities to connect with others.
Some attendees come to remember a child, parent, partner, friend, or pet. Others come simply to support the community and experience the beauty of the event. Grief, celebration, love, and community all exist together here.
Hosted by Avy's Sunshine Tribe, the festival also helps support the nonprofit’s mission to build the first inclusive community playground in the Cedars neighborhood in honor of Aveline “Avy” Lucille, who was tragically killed in a car crash at 22 months old.
