About this Event
There's much, much more to pollinators than those honeybees!
NEW! Celebrate National Pollinator Week by meeting the unsung heroes of the Texas garden! While Honeybees get all the press, solitary bees like the Mason Bee and the Leafcutter Bee are actually 100 times more efficient at pollination. In this class, we will explore the fascinating lifecycle of these gentle, stingless super-pollinators. Learn how the Mason bees that powered your spring garden are developing right now, and meet their summer cousins, the Leafcutters, who are active in Dallas heats. We’ll cover the mechanics of pollination and show you how to build and maintain a "Bee Hotel" to host these beneficial guests year-round.
What You’ll Learn:
- Pollination 101: How bees transfer pollen.
- The Lifecycle: Caring for Mason Bee cocoons.
- Summer Guests: Identifying Leafcutter bees and the distinct holes they leave on leaves.
- Host Plants: Top nectar sources for North Texas (Coneflowers, Salvias, and Turk's Cap, Salvia, Lantana, & Echinacea). Planting a continuous bloom from April to October.
Discover the connections made to all our landscapes and the value of all pollinators in this new class. FREE.

Celebrate Pollinator Week with us!
June 22 - 28, 2026.
Pollinator Week is an annual celebration in support of pollinator health that was initiated and is managed by Pollinator Partnership. It is a time to raise awareness for pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. The great thing about Pollinator Week is that you can celebrate and get involved any way you like! Popular events include planting for pollinators, hosting garden tours, participating in online bee and butterfly ID workshops, and so much more. However you choose to celebrate this year, be sure to register your event on the map below, and share your story with us by tagging us on social media using the hashtag #PollinatorWeek.
