Experience history come alive at Avro Heritage Museum’s 1940s Weekend. Step back in time with live entertainment and see amazing re-enactors in action, as well as food, drink and local stalls. Museum entry is included and highlights include:* Live music from the fabulous Lancashire Belle, The Blondies, Bertie Blighty and DJ Dave
* The Robinson brewery dray with shire horses
* Dancing - learn to lindi-hop under the wings of the iconic Vulcan with DJ Windy Wardall A Train: Swing-dancing to popular 1940s music.
* 1940s Re enactors, RAF Hawksmere, Homeguard, Military police, Straggler, Police man
* WAAF veteran and special guest Nancy Baily, aged 101! Being interviewed for Silk radio at approx 1pm Sat 6th.
* Talk on bouncing bomb and other wartime insights from volunteer and author Frank Pleszak Sun 7th
* Talks from Fireman, firearms and Life in the 1940s
* Meet and greet Sir Winston Churchill Sun 7th
* Simply Spitfire – a hand-built, full size repro MKIX
* Lancaster Bomber cockpit
* High Peak steam engines, miniature steam engines
* Vintage buses and a range of other 1940s vehicles
* Vintage cars 1950s and prior (only) are welcome
* Charlie Chaplin and his accordian playing wife!
* Vintage tea caravan serving tea and cakes
* Licensed bar serving drinks for all the family – including draft and bottled genuine German Beers, cocktails and soft drinks
* A range of great food stalls, including a hog roast
* Stalls and memorabilia – Military memorabilia, uniforms, ornaments, hair styles, clothes a 40s twist, cheese, pies, WI selling homemade produce and much more!
* And the museum is open as usual
