Avo Fest Bike Ride 2024: A Fun Ride for a Great Cause!
Join the Santa Barbara Cornhole League for a fun, scenic bike ride to the famous Avocado Festival in Carpinteria! Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just looking for a casual ride, this event is the perfect way to enjoy a beautiful day while giving back to the local community.
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, October 5th, 2024
- Meetup Location: Corner of Calle Cesar Chavez & Cabrillo Blvd, Santa Barbara
- Meetup Time: 12:00 PM
- Bike Ride Start: 1:00 PM
- Destination: Carpinteria Avocado Festival, Downtown Carpinteria
- Sunset Ocean Swim: Around 7:00 PM, we’ll take a refreshing dip at Carpinteria City Beach – a perfect way to end the day before heading back!
- Suggested Ride Back: We suggest leaving 8:00 PM from Rincon Brewery in Carpinteria for those biking back. There will also be a water break at The Nugget in Summerland for a quick refresh. Please note, this is just a suggestion, and everyone is responsible for their own return.
What to Expect:
- Scenic Coastal Ride: Enjoy a leisurely bike ride along the stunning California coastline as we make our way from Santa Barbara to the Avocado Festival in Carpinteria. The route is mostly flat, making it accessible for cyclists of all levels.
- Avocado Festival Fun: Once we arrive in Carpinteria, you’ll have the chance to explore the famous Avocado Festival! Indulge in delicious avocado-themed treats, browse local vendors, and enjoy live music and entertainment. It's a perfect way to spend the afternoon.
- Ocean Swim: Cool off with a sunset ocean swim at Carpinteria City Beach around 6:30 PM, and get ready for the evening!
- Giving Back: This event is not just about fun – it’s about giving back! We’re asking for a suggested donation of $10-$20, with all proceeds benefiting two incredible local nonprofits: Veggie Rescue and Move SB County. Your participation helps support food recovery, community wellness, and sustainable transportation in Santa Barbara County.
- Community Vibes: Meet new friends, reconnect with old ones, and be part of a community that loves to stay active and make a difference. The Avo Fest Bike Ride is a family-friendly event, so feel free to bring your loved ones!
What to Bring:
- Helmet
- Bike lock
- Bike light (especially if you plan to ride back in the evening)
- Sunscreen
- Water
- A smile!
Heading Back:
We suggest leaving from Rincon Brewery in Carpinteria at 8:00 PM for those biking back to Santa Barbara. We’ll also stop for a water break at The Nugget in Summerland on the way back. However, this is just a suggestion, and each participant is responsible for their own return journey. Please plan accordingly for a safe ride back!
