• Time of injury to hospital 1 hour and 6 minutes average
This should be a special evening with wonderful people, great food, and extraordinary stories. This will be an intimate event hosted by Pam and Tom Shipley (Former First Sergeant Unit 669 Combat Soldier) at our home in S. Austin off Mopac. The address will be sent after you register.
About Unit 669: Unit 669 is the Combat Search and Rescue Unit of the Israeli Air Force and is one of the premier Special Operations Units of the IDF. Founded in 1974, the unit's original mission was to recover ejected IAF pilots who had been shot down from behind enemy lines. Today, Unit 669 is responsible for the rescue and evacuation of all Israeli Defense Forces personnel. From ground forces, to other special forces units, and downed pilots, the unit's squads are on call to save lives 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
The American Friends of Unit 669 (AFU 669) is a non-profit organization (501 c 3) established to support the alumni and welfare of the soldiers of the IDF elite Unit 669.
The Unit's mission is to rescue casualties - both soldiers and civilians - anywhere and under any conditions, be it enemy territory under hostile fire or civilians caught in emergency situations.
The Association's goal is to support the unit's soldiers and alumni - many of whom will be the future leaders of Israeli society.
We encourage the alumni of Unit 669 to maximize their individual potential - to benefit themselves, the Unit, and all of Israel.
We are doing our best to keep up the good work of "Tikkun Olam".
