3:00 PM WORKSHOP/ 5:30PM CONCERT
CONCERT — Join singer/songwriter Avi Fox-Rosen with violinist Rebecca Mac!
They’ll be sharing music from Avi’s most recent album “Di rayze aheym/The journey home” based on the bilingual Yiddish / English poem of the same name by trailblazing lesbian poet and child Holocaust survivor Irena Klepfisz. They’ll also share songs from the JFREJ movement songbook Singing in Public, and songs from our Bundist and Jewish Leftist lineages.
WORKSHOP — Singing in Public: Songs from a new movement songbook
Join Avi Fox-Rosen to learn songs from "Singing in Public: Melodies to Carry the Movement", the songbook recently released by NYC’s Jews For Racial and Economic Justice!
“Singing In Public” is a collection of songs intended for members of Jews For Racial & Economic Justice (JFREJ) and our partners (like y’all at Hinenu!) to use in the streets and in meeting rooms, and anywhere else music is called for in 2026 / 5787 and beyond.
Join Avi to sing repertoire from several Jewish diasporic traditions in several Jewish languages, and songs for this movement-moment that are not Jewish-specific. Our repertoire will include songs from the Yiddish Bund, songs from leftist Ladino speakers of the early 20th century, Yemeni women’s repertoire in Judeo Arabic, and songs from our organizing partners The Peace Poets.
Come ready to participate, and leave with some new songs in your organizing toolkit!
