Join us Saturday evening at the museum for a screening of one of Harold Lloyd's most popular films Safety Last. This 1923 film stars Lloyd as a small-town boy who leaves his rural home to make a name for himself as a man of means in the city. He is also trying to make his girlfriend, played by Mildred Davis, proud of him. He gets a job as a sales clerk in the De Vore Department store serving obnoxious customers, pretending that he has a better job. When his girlfriend makes a surprise visit, he goes all out and over the top to make sure she doesn’t realize the truth.
"As for Lloyd, we always knew he was funny, but we never realized how funny until this one. It isn't only that he does funny stunts; his comedy method Itself is perfect of its own original kind." - Grace Kingsley, Los Angeles Times
This film screening will feature live musical accompaniment by the one and only Michael Mortilla. The event takes place under the stars in our Ackerman Family Amphitheater.
The event includes light appetizers. A specialty cocktail, wine, beer, and other refreshments will be available for purchase.
Tickets are $20 for museum members and $25 for non-yet-members. If you would like to attend both nights, you can purchase one ticket for both and get a discount!
