Autumn Strings in the Loft: Intermediate Irish Harp Immersion & Concert
Saturday, October 17th, 2026
Following our wonderful spring session, we are thrilled to welcome back acclaimed Celtic harpist Hannah Flowers for a special autumn harp workshop!
The Fall workshop is open to harpists of any level, but geared towards learners who have a few years of playing under their belt. If you missed the spring session but already possess basic harp knowledge, you are incredibly welcome here—the curriculum is designed to challenge you while remaining warm, supportive, and highly approachable with takeaways for harpists at a variety of levels.
📅 The Schedule
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM | Workshop Part 1: Harpin’ it Irish: Irish Harp Technique and Style Have you ever played Irish tunes but didn’t think they sounded very “Irish?” In this workshop Hannah will teach how to play Irish melodies and dance tunes and discuss Irish ornamentation, style, and modern techniques. Learn how to make dance tunes more “danceable” in this approachable workshop. Harp players of all levels will gain skills for how to play in the Irish style and leave with tips and tricks to invigorate their Irish tune playing.
11:30 AM – 1:30 PM | Lunch Break & Open Loft
Relax and recharge during our two-hour afternoon break! You are welcome to partake in the lunch provided right here at the Loft to chat and connect with fellow harpists. Prefer to explore? Feel free to venture out into the beautiful Red Wing community for food, or use this time to browse and shop the Stoney End store!
1:30 PM – 3:00 PM | Workshop Part 2: Ear Worms and Waltzes: Beautiful tunes to get stuck in your head (In a Good Way!)
Hannah will never admit to having a favorite tune, but there are some melodies she returns to again and again, never getting sick of them, even after 15+ years of playing them! In this workshop she will introduce you to some of the waltzes and melodies that will be suitable to be played in most any place, whether an event, a place of worship, or your living room. You’ll be humming these tunes all the way home!
4:00 PM | The Evening Concert (Open to the Public)
The day culminates in an intimate live performance by Hannah. Relax in the Loft and hear the instrument in its full glory. Workshop participants receive priority seating! Bring a friend—concert-only tickets are also available.
