Autumn Employment Law Update

Menzies Law are pleased to be holding our next Employment Law Update at the Bristol Zoo Project in North Bristol (near Cribbs Causeway and the M4/M5 interchange).

Our engaging and knowledgeable employment law team will update you on recent employment law changes plus those on the horizon. We'll be joined by our long-standing business immigration and pay and reward partners who will share recent developments in those fields. Throughout, our aim is to share practical information and guidance to help you in your role and to enable your business to prepare and manage risk.

Here's what we will cover:

• Employment law reforms - Labour were clear about the range of reforms on their list. We'll discuss some of the key ones and how employers can prepare for what is likely to be introduced/changing.

• 2024 Tribunal cases of note - as always we'll cover the important ones so far this year and what their outcomes mean for employers.
• The new duty on employers to prevent workplace sexual harassment - given the risks for businesses, we'll take a deep dive into The Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 which extends anti-harassment law from 26th October 2024. We'll examine how the law views harassment (and sexual harassment), the new duty, the EHRC's technical guidance and the steps you can take as an employer to show you are complying.
• Business immigration - what are the options for employers who want to employ workers from overseas? How is the Home Office approach changing and what does this mean for employers? Samantha Muirhead from Select Visa Services considers the options.
• Pay and Reward - the Government has made improving pay transparency one of its goals and also plans to extend Gender Pay Gap reporting and introduce Ethnicity Pay Gap Reporting. Andrew Carter from Risk Reward Management shares his expertise.

And after a morning of employment law you may be in need of some refreshment, so please do stay on for a light lunch and some networking if you can.

A bit of background about the venue:

Bristol Zoo Project is a new conservation zoo immersing visitors and animals in the natural landscape. Eventually 90% of the species on the site will be under threat and part of targeted conservation programmes. An exciting and modern conservation and learning campus is also being planned.
