About this Event
Ever wonder what’s really going on under the hood of your car? Not sure if that pricey repair your mechanic recommended is actually necessary? Whether you’re a new driver, a cautious commuter, or just tired of relying on roadside assistance, this class is your off-ramp from car confusion.
Join local engineer Will Rice for an approachable, hands-on introduction to the essential systems that keep your car or truck running. You’ll learn the basics—from engines and brakes to fluids and filters—then get your hands dirty (just a little!) with a guided “Show and Tell” under the hood.
By the end of this session, you'll walk away with more confidence, less mystery, and a practical understanding of the key components that power your ride. No prior knowledge needed—just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

You instructor, Will, has been teaching and coaching for more than 25 years... everything from life skills (Basic Auto, Beekeeping Basics) to Middle School Soccer to an assortment of outdoor related topics (climbing, canoeing). As an engineer, he finds nothing greater than understanding how something works and seeing someone else also begin to understand.
Class is open to ages 15 and up, though minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The adult must purchase an additional ticket to attend the class.
