Expert talks from a paediatrician, psychologist and SLT about coping with ASD, demand avoidance and ARFID when children go back to school.
About this Event

Talks from experts in the field about things you wanted to know about helping your Autistic child cope with the demands of going back to school after the summer break. This impacts on the child's emotions, sleep, eating, energy levels. These talks will aim to give parents and professionals some practical strategies to cope with these demands.

We have an excellent group of professionals lined up to talk about demand avoidance, ARFID, regulating sensory difficulties, and much more.

Our young lived experience speaker will be talking about her experience of school avoidance/refusal and other strategies that helped her manage school (ranging from subtle stims, to why your kid might hate school shoes).

Unfortunately the Autistic SENCo is no longer able to join us, but don't worry, we have an excellent paediatrician taking over with a talk on strategies to manage transitions and anxiety manifesting in illness.
