Join us for a conversation between award-winning author and conservationist, Jonathan C. Slaght, and local legend and scientist, Ned Rozell, discussing Slaght’s newest book, Tigers Between Empires. It charts the incredible, thirty-year story of how Russian and American scientists came together to help protect Amur tigers, more popularly known as ‘Siberian Tigers,’ from extinction. Dr. Slaght will provide a 30-minute presentation on the conservation work, followed by a Q&A between him and Rozell.
Jonathan C. Slaght, a scientist with the Wildlife Conservation Society, is the author of Owls of the Eastern Ice, which was nominated for a National Book Award in 2020 and won the PEN/E. O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award in 2021. He lives in Minneapolis.
We will have copies of both of Slaght's books available for sale (and signing,) along with Ned Rozell's books. We're lucky to have Slaght visiting us from the Lower 48, and this will be his only book talk in Alaska, so you won't want to miss it!
The event will be at Solstice Books starting at 6 pm.
