Join us for an author talk with Dick Holstock on Thursday, May 9, 7:00 p.m., Winters Community Library.
Dick Holdstock is a musician, music historian, and activist. He has recorded and performed traditional Scottish and English folk music since the 1970s. He is a scholar of British broadside ballads—inexpensive songsheets sold on the street, often with a political message—from the 18th and 19th centuries. Dick will discuss his book, Again with One Voice: British Songs of Political Reform, 1768 – 1868, and sing some of the songs of the period that illuminate the conditions that working people struggled under and their determination to bring about change.
