About this Event
About This Event:
Join author Zeynab Gamieldien to experience her latest novel, Learned Behaviours. Zeynab will discuss her writing in conversation with author Yumna Kassab at Georges River Libraries.
Learned Behaviours is a gripping mystery exploring profound themes of class, social mobility, and the lasting impact of schooling on an individual’s life trajectory. The story follows Zaid Saban, a prospective barrister whose past, and the traumatic events of his final school year, come back to haunt him when his best friend’s sister asks him to re-examine a M**der case from years ago.
“A clear-eyed and deeply moving exploration of past injustice, privilege, and belonging. Zeynab Gamieldien lays bare what it is to inhabit two worlds in contemporary Australia: slipping in and out of your skin to navigate the spaces you are granted entry to and perpetually second-guessing the rules of admittance.” – Dinuka McKenzie, author of The Torrent.
