Join Australian wheelchair tennis champion David Hall OAM as he shares the story behind his autobiography Superbeast.
In this candid memoir, David reflects on the accident that led to the amputation of both legs at age sixteen, and the path that followed from recovery and rehabilitation to becoming one of the world’s leading wheelchair tennis players.
The book traces David’s journey from his childhood in Sydney through to an extraordinary sporting career that included Paralympic gold at the Sydney 2000 Games, multiple international titles and years ranked world number one.
Blending personal reflection, humour and insight, Superbeast explores resilience, determination and life beyond elite sport.

About the Author
A former professional athlete, David has been consistently ranked No. 1 in the world for Singles competition. His career recorded nineteen Super Series (equivalent to the able-bodied Grand Slam)
Singles Titles.
On Saturday October 28th our nation and the world witnessed one of the most memorable games of wheelchair tennis ever seen and were part of Australian sporting history when David claimed victory
and the Gold medal in the Men’s Singles competition at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, the first Australian to achieve such success.
During his illustrious career David has recorded many historical achievements including his victory at the 1995 US Open where he became the first non-American to win the US Open. He went on to
dominate the event with a total of eight titles whilst winning over 80 events over the course of his 15- year career. David competed at four Paralympic Games.
David retired from the tour at the end of the 2005 season and has now been inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame (the second Paralympic athlete to have achieved this recognition at the time),
International Tennis Hall of Fame, Australian Tennis Hall of Fame. He has a bronze bust statue in Garden Square next to Rod Laver Arena at the Melbourne Tennis Centre.
