Author talk: Alison Baxter at Bishopston Library
About this Event
Alison’s Cornish ancestors were sailing in and out of the Cumberland Basin throughout the middle of the nineteenth century. Her two times great-grandfather, who appears in her nonfiction book, A Cornish Cargo, made the news when he had the bright idea of transporting boxes of fresh Cornish broccoli to sell in the St Nicholas market. His oldest son settled in Bristol, started trading in wines and spirits, and rented a smart villa in Clifton. It was a tragic death in his family home that became the inspiration for Alison's novel, A Fatal Choice.
