Milwaukee poet Kathie Giorgio will be coming to the bookstore on May 7th! Join us for an evening of poetry reading, poetry talking, and poetry books. Giorgio’s newest book, “The Birth of a Widow” came out of a writing retreat she went on just months after the untimely death of her husband. Over the first year being a widow, Giorgio let the poems come whenever they came, without a plan to sit down and write each day, only a permission to just let them happening. “The Birth of a Widow” is the result of that year of allowing.

KATHIE GIORGIO is the author of eight novels, two story collections, an essay collection, and five poetry books. Awards include the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association, the Pencraft Award for Literary Excellence, and the Eric Hoffer Award in Fiction. She been nominated for the Pushcart Prize in both fiction and poetry.
Giorgio's poem “Again” won first prize in the Wisconsin Writers Association's Jade Ring contest. Her short stories and poetry have been incorporated into art exhibits and performed on stage by Stories on Stage in Boulder, Colorado.
Kathie is the founder and director of All Writers' Workshop and Workplace, an international creative writing studio based in Wisconsin.
