Join us to hear author Susan Evans read from her novel, Mighty Wind, Rushing Waters, and then listen as she tells of her journey into one of the darker sides of American history. Her narrative follows three characters as they each negotiate life at an Indian Boarding School in northern Montana. It is set in 1890, and is based on family histories of members of the Little Shell Tribe—memories shared with Sue. Although historical fiction, the novel represents very real truths to everyone who spoke with her.Sue’s family is from Gorham (her father grew up on School St). However, Sue now lives in Massachusetts with her husband of 50 years. She owned a tax firm for 30 years, and also volunteered as a music teacher at a small Christian school. She has written two school musicals and several hymns. Mighty Wind, Rushing Waters is her debut novel; she is currently writing a sequel called Native Grace.
