Discover how a production designer turns a script into a fully realised cinematic world. Production designer Anna Rackard shares her creative process, from script analysis and research to developing a distinct visual language, and how she works with her team to build authentic, character-driven spaces. Using case studies from her period and contemporary work, she will show how colour, texture and props shape tone, mood and story.
Anna Rackard's film career spans over 30 years, working with directors including Lenny Abrahamson, Neil Jordan, Nicolas Roeg and Whit Stillman. She received a Children's Craft Team BAFTA in 2025 for The Velveteen Rabbit, and IFTAs in 2010 and 2012 for Ondine and Stella Days.
