Austin Vampire Ball: The Vampire Lestat

My beautiful unwell,

If you are reading this now you must be a very privileged individual. You could have spent your Halloween in one of a million locations, halfway across the world or here in the states, other less exciting Vampire themed events with party magicians or cult leaders pretending to be immortals. You were enticed by my invitation instead. I like you already.

The stage is where I am most alive.

And now, for one final night, I invite you into my world.

For so long you've been told what a vampire is by...inferior narrators. I invite you all to see the truth, along with all the immortals who may have a difference of opinion.

A certain Pulitzer prize winning author turned documentarian has insisted that my final performance be immortalized for his desperate quest for attention at Cannes. I'm certain it will be more interesting than his last work of revisionist history, at the very least.

Join me at the Austin Vampire Ball for what shall be my last performance as "The Vampire Lestat". One final symphony of decadence, desire, rebellion, and immortal longing. One final chance to stand beneath the lights, lose yourself in the music, and celebrate the beautiful darkness that binds us all.

I may have an ego that could cast a shadow on most of your new hideous downtown skyscrapers, or leave even your Rogan's or Musk's thinking they're subtle and demure by comparison, but unlike those fascistic clowns I am under no delusions that I could do this all on my own. I've called in some old friends from the Théâtre des Vampires...what was left of them anyway after a certain pyromaniac former paramour decided to work out his issues in Paris. So you can expect an incredible drag show directed by yours truly that's meant to clear up some discrepancies in Mr. Malloy's "journalism".

This is not merely a show.

It is a farewell.

A curtain call.

An exclamation point on the end of an immortal life lived dangerously close to the sun. My personal reflections on my own Icarus journey.

The music will thunder. The blood will flow. The night will burn brighter than the stars themselves.

And when the final note fades into silence, when the last spotlight dims and the velvet curtain falls...

I will take my bow.
