Join the Austin–Taichung Sister City Committee and Austin Sister Cities International (ASCI) for a free, family-friendly celebration commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Austin–Taichung Sister City Partnership.
Since 1986, Austin and Taichung, Taiwan, have shared a lasting friendship built on cultural exchange, education, business collaboration, and citizen diplomacy. This special anniversary celebrates four decades of meaningful connections between our communities and the people who have helped strengthen them.
Enjoy an afternoon of live cultural performances, community and cultural booths, authentic Taiwanese street food and boba, family-friendly activities, and raffle prize drawings, while learning more about the rich traditions of Taiwan and Austin's international community.
Whether you're discovering Sister Cities for the first time or have been part of the program for years, we invite you to celebrate this important milestone with us.

About Austin-Taichung Sister City:
The Austin–Taichung Sister City relationship was established in 1986 through the efforts of Mr. Robert Huang, whose vision helped bring the two cities together. That same year, Austin Mayor Frank C. Cooksey led a delegation to Taichung, followed by a reciprocal visit from Taichung Mayor Chang Ziyuan the following year. Over the past four decades, the partnership has continued to foster cultural understanding, educational opportunities, business collaboration, and lifelong friendships between our communities.

Austin Sister Cities International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating global relationships through citizen diplomacy. Working with Austin's 14 Sister City Committees and 1 Friendship City, ASCI creates opportunities for cultural exchange, educational partnerships, business collaboration, and community engagement.
