Austin Poetry Slam New Sh!t

Austin Poetry Slam is back with a $150 New Sh!t Slam, hosted by the one and only Element 615. This one is for the writers who are sitting on something fresh.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, we’re taking over the stage at Alamo Drafthouse Mueller inside the Barrel O’Fun for a night built around brand new work. No recycled pieces. No safety nets. Just poetry that hasn’t touched a competitive stage yet.

Here’s the deal:
The first round is all new sh!t—no exceptions. After that, poets who continue bringing new work can earn additional points each round, rewarding the risk, the craft, and the courage to bring something untested to the mic.
