Auroral Lights & Starry Nights
About this Event
We'll start the evening with stunning real-time footage of the northern lights filmed in Yellowknife, the capital city of Canada’s Northwest Territories. Auroras, Lights of Wonder blends scientific exploration of their colors and shapes with cultural myths and legends surrounding this celestial spectacle. Images from the ground are joined by an astronaut's view of the lights from the International Space Station. After bathing in auroral light, we’ll explore our local winter skies using our starball with a live presentation of the Moon, stars, planets, and constellations gracing our nights.
Program length is one hour.
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before show time, because late arrivals may not be seated for safety reasons in our darkened planetarium.
If you are not already familiar with the location of the planetarium, please be sure to understand our location using the map here on Eventbrite or here: Planetarium location in Google Maps For our public programs, you will be able to park in the I-37 parking lot off of Iroquois Drive directly next to Buffalo State University's Science and Math Complex which houses the planetarium.
