Join us on higher ground for the August Mid-Month Rainwater Dance. Who knows, the sun might come out, but either way, we'll be inside, ready to work it all out and have some tea together afterwards (feel free, but not obligated, to bring a snack to share, too). Also, all are welcome to place some small, physical token (that is meaningful to you) on the alter we create together before the dance as a tribute to our gathering. [Be sure to collect it at the end of dance if it is something you want to keep, like a photograph].This and every MID-MONTH dance at Columbia Friends Meeting House offers another opportunity for creating safety, remembering play, growing community, and finding joy.
Bring your beautiful self, just as you are.
Dance is a place to be free of judgement--of others, of yourself.
In this silent-ish meditation through conscious movement, there are no dance steps to follow or expectations to dance with others, nor expectations to dance any kind of way, or even to dance at all, if you're led to be still. Follow the music, follow your body, and follow your fancy. Take time to draw or stretch or read in the corner--OR keep your turbo boosters on the whole time.
Doors open at 2:45PM
Opening Circle begins at 3:00PM
We ask everyone to please sign in at the door so that we can keep you in the loop about dance related offerings.
After signing in, get settled and join the dance floor for a period of grounding and invitational "warming up" movement.
At the opening circle, facilitators of the Dance Collective will say a few words about the space and intention of the dance.
After our 1.5 hour of meditative movement/ecstatic dancing, we will circle up for a bit to briefly (and optionally) share our experience before heading out into the world to share our love and good vibes.
All are welcome to explore Columbia Friends' labyrinth, nature trail, community garden, and orchard.
