Tom Jones is a retelling of Henry Fielding's comic novel, a bawdy tale of 18th century virtue and villainy, in a musical setting by Edward German. This production transports our hero to 1960s London, when an explosion of youth culture disrupted the traditional British class divide. The result is a fast-moving musical farce, with a diverse range of characters, full of colour and energy. The production will be accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble.
Operetta = Vintage Musical
An operetta is a comic opera with dialogue, just like musical theatre (but without microphones). Operettas are what came before classic musicals such as The Sound of Music. An operetta can be performed with small orchestra or piano, and does not necessarily require operatic singers. We encourage all confident singers to audition.
