OPEN AUDITIONS for Treasure Island by Mary ZimmermanDirected by Erik Lindblom and Luke Janchenko
You are invited to audition for Limestone Stage's biggest stage spectacular yet!
Adapted from the Robert Louis Stevenson classic, this tale of adventure, treasure, mutiny and murder will be unlike any show you've ever seen. With more than 20 speaking roles for adults and a very key leading role for a young actor (Ages 10-15), the show will be a challenge and a joy.
Some Key Roles:
Jim Hawkins- A young man (Age 10-15) faced with making the choice of a life of legitimacy or one of adventure.
*This role is incredibly in-depth and will require a young actor with stage experience and ability to memorize many lines. Both boys and girls will be considered. The role will be played male.
Long John Silver- A seasoned one-legged pirate with incredible charm and charisma. He has to be both likable and powerful. Has no regard for human life, but is at times the most likable character on the stage. Possibly a sociopath.
Dr. Livesey- A respectable and responsible doctor who acts as both the local doctor and magistrate. Upholds law and order and acts as a figure for Jim to look up to.
Squire Trelawney- A well-off Bristol nobleman who is both generous and naive. Driven by the adventure of the sea. He finances the voyage of the Hispaniola. A bit comic.
Billy Bones- A weathered ex-pirate who is in the possession of a map leading to incredible treasure. He is erratic, loud, paranoid and dangerous.
Captain Smollett- A staunch, straight faced man of rules and order. He is hired by Trelawney to captain the Hispaniola to the island. His order-focused and no-nonsense approach makes him heavily disliked by both the crew and, at times, Jim.
Mrs. Hawkins- Mother of Jim and owner of a local Inn and Tavern. She is a strong woman with a good moral compass trying to raise her son and run a business.
