Upcoming Auditions:
The Long Christmas Dinner
by Thornton Wilder
The Matthews Opera House & Arts Center will hold auditions for a readers theater staged reading of Thornton Wilder's The Long Christmas Dinner, directed by Ali Johnson. One performance only: Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m., part of the first nationwide Long Christmas Dinner Festival.
This is readers theater — script in hand, at music stands, no memorization required. In about forty minutes, four generations of one family come and go around the same holiday table. Ninety years pass, traditions get handed down or dropped, and the meal keeps going. Then the scripts come down and the readers stay for a conversation on stage.
Roles:
Lucia 1, Roderick’s wife
Roderick 1, Mother Bayard’s son
Mother Bayard
Cousin Brandon
Charles, Lucia and Roderick’s son
Genevieve, Lucia and Roderick’s daughter
Leonora Banning, Charles’s wife
Lucia 2, Leonora and Charles’s daughter, Samuel’s twin
Samuel, Leonora and Charles’s son, Lucia’s twin
Roderick 2, Leonora and Charles’s youngest son
Cousin Ermengarde
Auditions: Nov 12 from 7-9PM, The Matthews Opera House, 614 N Main St, Spearfish. Cold readings from the script — no preparation needed.
Community performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.
THE LONG CHRISTMAS DINNER is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. www.concordtheatricals.com
