Are you a fan of Rocky Horror? Are you looking to be involved in your community? Do you have the desire to perform on stage? If you said yes, then we would like to take you on a strange journey to a castle full of (not-so) rich weirdos!
We are The Satanic Mechanics, Knoxville's Rocky Horror Picture Show shadow cast! We are looking for people just like you to join us on stage this October where our world will do the Time Warp!
We are casting for ALL ROLES. We are looking to fill 10 principal roles as well as 10-15 roles as Transylvanians. If you are looking for an experience that is unlike any other, then hike up your fishnets and join us at auditions!
When?
Sunday July 19, 2025 @ 5pm
Where?
CORE Knoxville - 7211 Kingston Pike
What to expect:
Our audition process is very low key and a whole lot of fun! We do ask that you arrive on time as we will begin with group introductions and review our production expectations. We will then move on to principal character auditions which will consist of a brief interview and a lip sync performance of a popular song for the character that you wish to audition (songs for each character are below). Characters that are dependent upon each other (Brad/Janet, Frank/Rocky, Magenta/Riff) may be called back to audition together. We've included the movie timestamps for auditions below for you to practice. Please allow a 5 second buffer for timing variance and remember, it isn't about how perfect you are, it's about your confidence and evoking the character!
Dr. Frank N. Furter - Sweet Transvestite (24:22 - 25:20)
Brad Majors - Dammit Janet (7:32 - 8:34)
Janet Weiss - Creature of the Night (56:36 - 57:47)
Riff-Raff - Time Warp (19:20 - 20:23)
Magenta - Time Warp (20:43 - 21:42)
Columbia - Time Warp (21:43 - 23:10)
Rocky - Sword of Damocles (36:30 - 37:44)

FAQ:
What is a shadow cast?
A group of people that performs a movie in front of a screen while that movie is playing; essentially pantomiming the movie. There are no speaking parts but there is a good amount of blocking.
What should I bring with me?
You do not have to bring anything but we recommend that you bring a pen/paper just in case you need to make any notes. We will be going over a lot of information and you may want to jot down any additional important info. Also, dress comfortably (think workout or casual wear) and bring a water as you will be moving around.
How can I prepare?
WATCH THE MOVIE. Seriously, we cannot stress this enough. Get familiar with the character's movements and rehearse evoking that character. Think about how you can set yourself apart from the other Columbias and practice your best "walking with a hump" for Riff-Raff. Since we've given you the characters’ songs because we want to see YOU at your BEST!
May I audition for more than one principal role?
Absolutely!
What if I do not have any theater experience?
No experience, no problem! Every year our cast is composed of people who have been performing since they were kids and people who have never performed at all. Our cast and production is open to people of all cultural backgrounds, heritages, sexual orientations, professions, incomes, genders, heights, and weights - we discriminate against no one and embrace our differences and own unique eccentric qualities. The only thing that we do not tolerate is intolerance. However, due to the mature nature of some of our venues, we do require all performers to be 18+.
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals are on TUESDAY evenings beginning in August and a full rehearsal schedule will be available at auditions.
Additional questions? Feel free to post below or message directly.
We hope to see you there and remember… “don’t dream it, be it!”
