COMPENSATION:
All roles are volunteer. $50 stipend provided.
ROLES
Note: All of the characters age about 7 years from the first scene through the end of the play.
JO —F, 16-23: Passionate and funny – a tomboy with great energy, ambition and imagination. G-E: belt with good head mix.
MEG — F 17-24: A bit of a Cinderella, sweet and dreamy. Ab-Eb, Lyric soprano/mezzo (Can double as ensemble in Act 2 for smaller casts)
BETH —F 15-18: Gentle and shy, but with a sense of humor. A-Eb: light alto with good head mix.
AMY — F 12-19: A comically needy and self-centered girl who grows into a smart, elegant, and flirtatious young lady. Bb-E: Young comic mezzo.
JOHN BROOKE — M 20-30: A bookish, slightly nerdy tutor, with an inner strength. A-F: Baritone. (Can double as ensemble in Act 2 for smaller casts)
LAURIE — M 17-24: Young, passionate, and charming, full of energy and enthusiasm. Bb-Gb: Young tenor/High baritone.
MARMEE —F 40-50: A mature woman with intelligence, humor and warmth. G-Eb: Mature alto with head mix if possible.
AUNT MARCH —F 70-80: A comically patrician battleaxe. A-D: Mature comic alto. (Can double as ensemble in Act 2 for smaller casts)
FATHER — M 50-60: A gently eccentric clergyman with a twinkle in his eye. D-D: Limited range baritone. (Can double as ensemble in both acts for smaller casts)
PROFESSOR FRITZ BHAER M 30-40: A proper, passionate scholar with self-deprecating charm. Bb-Eb: Baritone. (Can double as ensemble in Act 1 for smaller casts)
MR. LAURENCE M 60-70: A gruff and haughty gentleman of business, with a surprisingly soft heart. C-D: Limited range baritone. (Can double as ensemble in Act 2 for smaller casts)
MRS. KIRKE F 40-50: A lively and good-natured landlady. (Can double as ensemble in both acts for smaller casts)
ENSEMBLE — Guests at a Concord party, Guests at Meg’s wedding, pushy New Yorkers on the street and Guests at a Paris party. Preferably 8 singers (2 to a part SATB), or more if desired – mostly young people. At least one female soprano swing is recommended for balance in smaller casts.

Prepare 2 contrasting songs, 32 bars each. Piano accompaniment provided.
Callbacks by invitation Monday August 25th from 6:30-10pm
Callbacks will consist of side readings, select songs and dance. Sides will be made available at auditions, not before (in accordance with our rights contract).
Participants of all races, ethnicities, national origins, sexual orientations, gender expressions, and abilities are encouraged to submit.
