Auditions: JB3Entertainment's Short Play Showcase – Acts of Pride, Saturday, August 16 2:30pm - 5pm at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Meeting Room 3B
JB3Entertainment is seeking a dynamic ensemble of versatile actors for Acts of Pride, a short play showcase celebrating LGBTQIA voices through bold, original works. Most actors will be cast in multiple roles (2–3 characters each), so flexibility, range, and a collaborative spirit are essential.
To assess versatility, auditions will not include readings from the scripts.
Instead, please prepare a 30-second to 1-minute monologue. Memorization is preferred, but a well-rehearsed reading is acceptable. After your initial performance, you may be asked to reinterpret your monologue as several different characters. We’re looking for actors who are adaptable, open to direction, and comfortable shifting tone, style, and energy.
This is a non-union, paid opportunity.
We welcome both experienced and beginning actors.
Audition Details:
📍 The Columbus Metropolitan Library
Meeting Room 3B

JB3Entertainment is excited to announce the plays selected for their inaugural Short Play Showcase: Acts of Pride
The Straight Pill by Doug Powhida
In a terrifyingly plausible near future, a queer couple is forced to make an unthinkable choice: take a government-mandated “Straight Pill” and lose each other or resist and lose legal rights, healthcare and more. "The Straight Pill" is a biting, bold, and darkly funny dystopian satire about love, memory, resistance, and what we’re willing to sacrifice to survive.
Manly Men Doing Manly Things by Scott C. Sickles
"Manly Men Doing Manly Things" is a sharp, tender one-act about love, masculinity, and second chances. When a closeted race car driver reunites with his ex, a gay sportswriter, the two must confront their past and what it means to be brave.
Tying Up Loose Ends by Mark Harvey Levine
As two exes pack up the last boxes of a shared life, old tensions bubble up—along with nostalgia, music, and a few surprisingly tender truths. When an unexpected visitor arrives, the evening becomes less about moving out and more about moving on. "Tying Up the Loose Ends" is a sharp, heartfelt comedy about love, loss, and the awkward, beautiful mess we leave behind.
Socks and Sandals and Capybaras by Dallas Ray-Mackie
In "Socks and Sandals and Capybaras," grief, guilt, and hangovers meet in one messy apartment. A casual visit from a best friend turns into a tender, funny exploration of loss, healing, and the strange ways we learn to keep going.
After Mannequin by Greg A. Smith
"After Mannequin" picks up where the 1987 cult classic ends, reimagining the love story through a contemporary LGBTQIA lens. As Emmy adjusts to life as a human and Jonathan faces the reality of loving someone the world won’t fully accept, the play explores identity, legality, and what happens after the fairy tale ends.
Little Black Dress by John Mabey
In "Little Black Dress," a surprising discovery sparks an intimate conversation between partners, forcing them to confront vulnerability, identity, and what it truly means to be seen. "Little Black Dress" is a quiet, powerful story of love, acceptance, and the courage to show up as your whole self.
Quitting by Katelyn France
"Quitting" is a bittersweet comedy about three longtime friends, and the hard truths we hide behind habits. As the past catches up, they must decide if they can quit the things that no longer serve them—including certain people. Sharp, funny, and unexpectedly moving, "Quitting" is a story of love, loss, and letting go.
Take Me Home by Christopher Lockheardt
In "Take Me Home," a roadside crash forces two women to confront the wreckage of their relationship. As tensions rise, they must face the painful truth: sometimes love isn’t enough to make someone your home. Quiet, heartbreaking, and beautifully raw, "Take Me Home" explores codependence, boundaries, and the ache of letting go.
When Jesus Drops by for Tea by Greg Lam
When Jesus literally drops by a modern-day couple’s apartment for tea, one partner is skeptical, the other strangely calm, and both are left wondering what the Son of God might think of their lives. "When Jesus Drops by for Tea" is a sharp, irreverent, and unexpectedly heartfelt comedy about belief, identity, and what happens when your spiritual crisis suddenly knocks at the door.
Join us in bringing these vibrant, powerful stories to life. #JB3Entertainment #ActsOfPride #ArtMakesCbus #CbusMakesArt
