Gateway Players Theatre in Southbridge, Ma is hosting auditions for “The Spirit of Christmas or The Story of Ernestina Scrooge” written by Tom Fuller. Audition will be held on Tuesday, September 15th and Thursday September 17th at 6:30pm, in Fellowship Hall at Elm Street Congregational Church, 61 Elm Street, Southbridge, MA.
Auditions will consist of cold-readings from the script. Each auditioner should come prepared to sing one of their favorite Christmas carols as well. Show dates are December 4, 5, 6. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays in September, then Monday and Wednesdays in October and November. All rehearsals will begin at 6:30pm. This is an adult and youth production. Synopsis:
This adaptation of Dickens' A Christmas Carol was selected by the Playwrights' Center of Minneapolis. It is especially suited to the needs of high schools and community theatres, since it has an assortment of fine roles for women. What happened to Ebenezer Scrooge after the immortal Christmas Day? It seems he married and had a son, who had a son, who moved to America and had a daughter, Ernestina, who is the leading lady of this play.

Principle roles:
Ernestina Scrooge – the great-granddaughter of Ebenezer, 40 years old
Bob Kravachic – Ernestina’s clerk, father of 3, 30 – 40 year old
Bill McDougal -Ernestina’s former boyfriend, 40 year old
Young Ernestina – 15-17 year old girl, appears in Christmas past as a high school student, she also has a solo that she sings
Little Bob – 6-8 year old boy, appears in Christmas present similar to the Tiny Tim character from A Christmas Carol
Ensemble: will have multiple roles including carolers, narrators, Spirit of Christmas Past, Present and Future, students, Kravachic family members, party guests, etc.
6 women - age range of 25-60ish
6 Men - age range of 25-60ish
6 Teens – age range of 12-17
