21 Minutes is a comedy play which consists of five scenes set in the last 21 minutes before the end of the world.
Each scene tells the story of different groups of people who interact with the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and what they are up to as the world comes to an end.
Most characters are in stand-alone scenes, though there is some overlap.
Rehearsals will start at the end of January, and be 3 times a week.
The show season is from 26th March till 5th April.
Characters
• Anton (m) – a sweet, nervous guy on a first date with a mysterious stranger from the gym
• Claire (f/ any) – an annoyingly bubbly waitress who is terrible at singing
• Mr Autumn (m) – Smooth, almost clinical in demeanour. On a date with Anton at the end of the world.
• Dale (m) – Cheesy co-presenter of The Hello Show, misogynist with too-white teeth and fake tan. Lots of swearing.
• Francine (f) – Co-presenter of the Hello Show, down to earth and totally done with Dale’s attitude. Lots of swearing.
• Gabriel Spring (any) – Weather presenter on The Hello Show. Over-eager and excitable, very literal.
• Dr Jake Winter (m) – Village GP and leader of the local cult, the Children of the Night Queen. Must be comfortable facilitating audience participation
• Greg (m/ any) – Leader of rival cult, the Cowerers of the Galdergogg
• Carol (f) – Leader of yet another village cult, The Brianites. Deceptively innocent-looking (to begin with).
• Sebastian (m/ any) – Onesie-wearing leader of the Order of Mr Snuffles.
• Sylvia (f) – shuffling old lady, in charge of bookings at the leisure centre.
• Carl (any) – Alien in disguise, leaving the world before it ends. Vehemently against socks.
• Susan (any) – Carl’s alien partner. Typical ‘wife’ of the married couple.
• McGregor (m) – Susan and Carl’s gardener, who definitely ‘doesn’t know’ they are aliens, wink wink.
• Natasha Leto (f/ any) – Works for the department of Health. Cool, calm and collected.
• The Reckoning (m) - Nerdy conspiracy theorist. Lives in mum’s basement and plays video games.
There are some minor roles that will be double cast: Producer, Studio Hands (non speaking), Mother (offstage voice).
