We are looking for actors ages 16 and older to audition for our production of Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. This thrilling murder mystery penned by the "Queen of Crime" herself is widely known as the longest-running show in the world. Having opened in London's West End in November 1952, it is still running to this day at St. Martin's Theatre, boasting over 30,000 performances.
Auditions will be held on Sunday, June 28th from 2pm-6pm at 321 Lynn Street, Danville, VA, with callbacks (if needed) 6pm-9pm Monday, June 29th. Registration is required (click "Get Tickets"). This Main Stage production will be directed by Katelyn M. Cassell, with weekend performances from September 24, 2026 through October 4, 2026. Rehearsals will be held 3-4 times per week, on average, in the evenings and on weekends beginning in July. A detailed rehearsal calendar will be provided to the cast shortly following auditions. No experience needed to audition.
Casting 8 actors for the following roles (casting may be flexible with regard to gender):
Mollie Ralston – Late 20s–30s. Bright, capable, and outwardly optimistic. The kind of person who curates a cozy space but is quietly overwhelmed beneath the surface. Emotional intelligence with hints of anxiety.
Giles Ralston – Late 20s–30s. Charming but tightly wound. Protective partner energy that can tip into insecurity or suspicion. Carries a subtle “control issues” vibe.
Christopher Wren – 20s, possibly gender-flexible. Quirky, neurodivergent-coded, and artistically inclined. Fast-talking, emotionally transparent, and unpredictable. Could lean whimsical or unsettling...
Mrs. Boyle – 50s–70s. Sharp, entitled, and unapologetically blunt. Think of a “no filter” authority figure who expects high standards and isn’t afraid to offend. (Okay, Boomer.)
Major Metcalf – 40s–60s. Grounded, calm, and observant. A steady, reassuring presence. Could be ex-military, law enforcement, or another structured background.
Miss Casewell – 20s–40s, also gender flexible. Cool, guarded, and minimalist in expression. Androgynous, gender-nonconforming, non non-binary presentation welcome! Carries emotional depth beneath a detached exterior.
Mr. Paravicini – 30s–60s. Bold, theatrical, and enigmatic. Accent or stylized speech can be a strong choice. A wildcard presence who plays with social norms and keeps others guessing.
Detective Sergeant Trotter – 20s–30s, also gender-flexible. Driven, sharp, and slightly intense. A fast-thinking investigator with urgency, modern energy, possibly less “by-the-book” and more... instinctive.
Sides (portions of the script) may be made available prior to the audition date.
