Plaza Theatre Company is pleased to announce that audition video submissions for its upcoming production of STEEL MAGNOLIAS are now open. This notice is a call for video submissions to audition for the show.AUDITION INFORMATION -
Those who wish to audition must submit their completed video by 11:59pm on Sunday January 12th. The video should include the reading of the attached dialog side in the style of the character you are auditioning for. More details about what is being asked for are on the attached document. The auditioner should submit the video as part of filling out this Google Form to audition:

Performers of any ethnicity, race, color, sex, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, religion, and who are differently abled are welcome and encouraged to audition. We are actively seeking all ethnicities for all roles. Please note also that no roles for this production have been pre-cast and that all roles are open.
PLEASE NOTE** - A few of the roles in the show may call for participation in intimate moments or staged combat moments. In all associated circumstances trained and certified Intimacy Directors and Fight Directors will stage these moments with the consent of those involved.
Should the Production Team need to see anyone further for a Callback Audition, those who will be invited to attend will be notified by Tuesday, January 14th at 7pm. The Callback audition will be held the evening of Wednesday January 15th from 6pm to 8pm at Plaza Academy (221 S. Mill Street, Cleburne TX). Everyone who submits an audition video will be notified of casting decisions regardless of whether or not they are cast.
The Production Team for STEEL MAGNOLIAS includes Abby Watson Martinez and Freddy Martinez Jr as co-Directors with Cessany Carpenter as Stage Manager, Jorilyn Tasker as Intimacy Director, and JaceSon P. Barrus, Tina Barrus and G. Aaron Siler as Producers.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION -
STEEL MAGNOLIAS will play on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoons opening on Friday March 7th, 2025 and playing thru Saturday March 5th, 2025. Rehearsals will usually take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings until opening. No Sunday rehearsals or performances. Rehearsals will commence on or around Saturday January 25th.

ABOUT THE THEATRE -
Plaza Theatre Company is a 276 seat theatre-in-the-round located at 305 S. Anglin Street in Cleburne, TX. The Company produces around 14 shows a year usually in the style of family-friendly comedies and musicals. PlazaCo opened in November of 2006 and is currently producing its 188th show. CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS -
Truvy: 40-year-old owner of a small town beauty shop. She knows everyone's business and shares it with anyone who will listen. Southern Belle. She always has advice for you, and they often come in the form of country sayings.
Annelle: very shy twenty-year-old hair-dresser. She goes from a very soft-spoken person to a bible-loving Christian with her heart on her sleeve.
Clairee: 60-year-old widow of the former mayor of Chiquapin. She is wealthy and also knows everyone’s business. She is the sarcastic member of the group. She loves to laugh and poke fun at the little things that others cry over. She is very close with Ouiser.
Shelby: Roughly 25-year-old diabetic young lady. Prettiest girl in town, and loved by all. She has a weird relationship with her mother, and often rebels just for the sake of rebellion.
M’Lynn: 50-year-old mother of Shelby. She is over-protective at times and finds the need to have a firm grasp on the world at all times. She is a busy woman who worries too much for her age.
Ouiser (pronounced Weezer): She is the same age as Clairee. She is a wealthy old bitty. She is a loveably miserable lady, though. Her unique personality and sense of humor is a great relief in the serious scenes. She is very close to Clairee.
