It's a musical!Welcome to the event for auditions for Old Colony Players production of Something Rotten!
Set in the 1590s, brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as "The Bard." When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first musical. But amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz.
What to prepare.
Please prepare 30 seconds to 1 minute of a Broadway style song. Singing from the show is acceptable. An accompanist and a speaker for tracks will be provided.
Cold reading from the script.
And be prepared to dance. Those auditioning for Nick Bottom, Shakespeare or wanting to be a featured Tap dancer will also have a small Tap audition.
Everyone auditioning for Something Rotten will be expected to participate in all three parts.
Please wear closed toed, comfortable shoes and clothes you can move in. And have fun! No experience necessary auditions are open to anyone and everyone. Those interested in being a part of the show crew should also come out and fill out an audition form.
Show dates are April 18,19,20,24,25,26,27.
