The 4th Wall Players are partnering once again with Backlot Makerspace and Venue and will be holding auditions for the Oscar Wilde classic, Lady Windermere's Fan April 12th and 13th from 6:30-8:30 PM both nights!Lady Windermere's Fan is set around the title character's birthday celebrations, and revealing secrets that challenge the boundaries of morality and social decorum. This show navigates themes of fidelity, reputation and the duality of public and private life.
The performance dates of the show will be June 12th-14th and 19th-21st at the Backlot Theatre as well.
Here is a breakdown of the characters;
Lord Windermere (m): 25-35. Lady Windermere's devoted husband, who is trying to help Mrs. Erlynne re-enter society without revealing her identity to his wife, causing the central misunderstanding.
Lord Darlington (m): 20-35. A charming, cynical bachelor who is in love with Lady Windermere and encourages her to abandon her marriage, representing a threat to her social standing.
Lord Augustus Lorton: (m) 35-60. The brother of the Duchess of Berwick, he is a blunt, often comedic figure who falls for Mrs. Erlynne and proposes to her.
Mr. Dumby (m) 18+. A witty, lighthearted friend of the Windermeres known for making contradictory, ironic statements about society and scandal.
Mr. Cecil Graham (m) 18-30. A young gentleman characterized by his sharp, cynical wit and detached view of social obligations and relationships.
Mr. Hopper (m) 18-30 - A wealthy young Australian who becomes engaged to Lady Agatha, representing new money in London society.
Parker (m) 18+. A Butler
Lady Windermere (f) 20-25. The protagonist, an innocent and rigid young wife and mother who equates social respectability with moral worth. She faces a crisis of faith in her marriage and herself, nearly ruining her reputation.
The Duchess of Berwick (f) 35-60. A gossipy, powerful figure who drives the plot by revealing rumors about Lord Windermere and Mrs. Erlynne to Lady Windermere.
Lady Agatha Carlisle (f) 18-25. The Duchess's quiet daughter, who only speaks to say "Yes, Mamma," serving as a foil to the outspoken society members.
Lady Plymdale (f) 18+, High Society Lady
Lady Stutfield (f) 18+. High Society Lady.
Lady Jedburgh (f) 18+. High Society Lady.
Mrs. Cowper-Cowper (f) 18+. High Society Lady.
Mrs. Erlynne (f) 35-45. An enigmatic, charming woman with a scandalous past, later revealed to be Lady Windermere’s mother who abandoned her family years prior. She acts as a complex, morally ambiguous figure who ultimately saves her daughter from public disgrace, sacrificing her own reputation to do so.
Rosalie (f) 18+. A Maid
All identifiers are suggestive based on how originally written in the script.
All our welcome to audition! Please come prepared to read sides from the script and have possible conflicts ready to answer on your audition sheet. No memorized monologues necessary. Headshots and resumes are also not required but will be accepted.
Rehearsals will take place Monday through Thursday with a more detailed schedule released after casting.
