Join the inquisitive, lovable little monkey Curious George, star of books, movies and the award-winning PBS television show in this delightful musical.All–You-Can-Eat Meatball Day comes just once a year. George has been waiting all month for that day, a day almost bigger than his birthday! On Meatball Day, George helps his friend Chef Pisghetti cook some delicious meatballs and serve them to the hungry crowd.
But this year, the crowd has vanished! Something is keeping people away. Something pretty big. And that something is Phineas T. Lightspeed and his speedy Meatballs-O-Matic machine. In despair, Chef Pisghetti vows to cook no more. Determined to help his friend, George goes on a mission to enter the Chef’s meatballs in the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest –– in Rome.
With every swing and flip, George takes the audience through a fun-filled adventure in which he learns more about Rome, meatballs and the secret ingredient to cooking!

What? AUDITIONERS WILL BE ASKED TO SING A SHORT VOCAL SELECTION THAT WILL BE TAUGHT AT THE AUDITION; AND THERE WILL BE A DANCE AUDITION, (combination also taught at the audition) FOR ALL ROLES AND CHORUS (wear appropriate clothing and footwear). Some performers will also be asked to do cold-readings from the script.
Performance Dates: April 12 @ 11AM and 2PM (for the general public); April 8, 9 @ 10AM and April 10, 11 @ 9:30AM and 2PM (for school groups)
Performances are held during school hours, so all cast members must be willing and able to take 4 days off from school/work.
Tentative Rehearsal Schedule: Sundays from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, beginning mid February.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS – large ensemble of kids and teens (35 – 40
Curious George - The curious title character. Lots of physicality. All lines are vocalized sounds that convey intentions. *Watching the children’s television series will help for actors interested in this role.
The Man with the Yellow Hat (MYH) - (Tenor/Baritone) Curious George’s mentor. Keeps George in check but helps him have fun along the way.
Chef Pisghetti - (Tenor) A loud and boisterous chef who loves his meatballs. Very big funny character with an Italian accent.
Phinneas - (Tenor/Alto) The rowdy competition who invented the instant meatball maker. Very conceited and believes there’s no chance of losing.
Netti - (Soprano-Belt) Chef’s assistant in the kitchen. Life goal is to make Chef’s life better.
Doorman - (Alto-Belt) The friendly neighborhood doorman. Helps George and MYH along their way to adventure.
Delivery People - (Any Voice Part) A group of strong harmonizing singers, very excited to deliver a package.
Italian Painters - (Any Voice Part) A group of strong harmonizing street artists in Rome.
Frankie Sidecar - (Alto-Belt) Swanky 1950s nightclub singer hired to judge meatball contest.
Chef O’Malley - (Any Voice Part) A chef straight from Ireland who uses their native Irish culture to help make meatballs.
A large ensemble featuring chefs, construction workers, building painters, street performers, tourists, and citizens of both New York and Rome
Theatre at the Mount auditions and roles are open to ALL. Persons of all races, ethnicities, national origins, genders, sexual orientations, ages and ability statuses are given fair consideration for any and all roles.
Our contract with Music Theatre International restricts casting to students through grade 12.
